It took us approximately 20 hours of traveling before arriving in Malang, Indonesia. The long journey started in Saint Mary’s University. Bayombong at 1:00 in the afternoon. The meeting place is at our campus because we have to leave our medical documents and waivers. After that, we embark the first 8 hours of traveling to Manila. At 10:00 PM, we arrived in Manila and we stayed at the CICM Maryhill School of Theology to rest. Then at 3:00 AM, August 26, we went to the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3. It is my first time going abroad and I was having some anxiety about being late for my flight or getting offloaded by the immigration.Fortunately, the things that Im afraid of did not happen and I was able to go to Indonesia with ease. The fligth from Manila to Surabaya is a 9 hour long. We had a 4 hour layover in Kuala Lumpur and in that period, we had a chance to contact Ma’am Ayu of Unikama. She told us that some students from Unikama will be waiting for us to the Juanda International Airport in Surabaya and they will be with us to get to Malang. Upon arrival in Surabaya, we met Gilas and Wari ,who are also joining the Sea -Teacher Project. We had the chance to talk about each others culture and belief. And it took us 2 hours to get to Malang.

The Arrival

Upon arriving in Malang, we went straigth to our dorm. It is called Unikama Rusunawa, a dorm for Unikama students. The room 17 was given to us. After dropping our luggages we went straigth to a restaurant where we officially met Maam Ayu along with other students who are also joing the Sea – Teacher Project and 1 previous exchange from the same project. We had a welcome dinner party. The food are suprisingly simillar to the filipino food I use to eat back in the Philippines. We also had the chance to exchange contacts and talked about the Philippines and Indonesia and took photos to commemorate our new friendship. Then the students accompanied us to our dorm to take a rest.
